1. Plan ahead

Before construction begins, plan the project to minimize waste by carefully estimating material requirements, specifying materials with minimal waste, and ordering materials in the quantities required.

2. Choose sustainable materials

Select materials that are durable, recyclable, and made from renewable resources. Consider using recycled materials, such as reclaimed wood or steel, and materials that can be reused, such as formwork, scaffolding, and props

3. Implement waste reduction measures

Implement measures to reduce waste, such as reusing packaging materials, segregating waste materials, and implementing a waste reduction plan.

4. Use prefabrication and modular construction

Prefabrication and modular construction can help reduce waste on site by minimizing the amount of material waste generated during construction and reducing the amount of site waste generated during installation.

5. Implement a waste management plan

Develop and implement a waste management plan that includes recycling, composting, and disposal options for all waste generated on site.

6. Train and educate workers

Train and educate workers on the importance of reducing waste and implementing waste reduction measures on site.

7. Monitor and evaluate waste reduction efforts

Monitor and evaluate waste reduction efforts to identify areas for improvement and ensure that waste reduction targets are being met.
